I Had Food at Home. So Why Was I Still Ordering Food?
I didn’t start Noura because I wanted to build another food app.
I started it because I was tired of asking myself:
“What am I going to eat today?”
I can spend around ₦300,000 on foodstuff, stock my house, and still end up ordering food outside because I don’t have the energy—or mental bandwidth—to decide what to cook.
I have food at home.
But I still ask:
→ What should I cook? → What can I make with what I already have? → What should I buy next? → Should I cook or order? → Am I even eating well?
Sometimes I wait until I’m extremely hungry before deciding.
Sometimes I buy snacks instead.
Sometimes I cook too much, put it in the fridge, forget about it, and eventually waste it.
That’s when I realized:
The problem isn’t always access to food. Sometimes, it’s the decision-making around food.
So I asked myself:
What if AI could understand my food situation and help me decide what to do next?
That question became Noura.
Noura is my concept for an AI-powered food and home intelligence ecosystem designed to help people make better everyday decisions around food.
It can help with:
🥗 Nutrition and wellness 💰 Food budgeting and spending 🛒 Grocery planning and smart pantry 🍳 Knowing what to cook with what you already have 🍽️ Deciding when to cook, order, or book a private chef ⏰ Saving time and reducing decision fatigue 🏠 Moving toward a more intelligent home
Whether you live alone, have a family, work remotely, or simply struggle with everyday food decisions, the goal is simple:
Make food and home life easier to manage.
The core idea:
Understand → Recommend → Act.
Designing Noura pushed me beyond UI design into product strategy, AI, business models, ecosystems, user behavior, marketplace dynamics, and scalability.
