The UC Smart Metering project focuses on creating a secure way to handle smart-

meter data in a distributed energy system. In this project, edge devices first encode

their meter data, sign it digitally, and ask nearby devices for approval before

sending it to a central gateway. The gateway then checks the data to make sure it is

authentic, unchanged, and follows the system rules.
