Original Piece: Stove circa 1684-85 by Multiple Artists.
Inspiration: When I saw this beautiful, ceramic stove, I saw a beautiful castle that looked like it belonged in a forgotten fairy tale. It was originally in a manor called Reiche Stübe of the Schlössi (Little Castle) and built for Johann Gaudenz von Capol, the leading family of the Flims in a Protestant village in eastern Switzerland. The stove is adorned with glazed paintings of different Bible stories and I wanted to incorporate those same paintings onto a Baroque Swiss Castle.
Story: Once upon a time, hidden deep within the Swiss Alps, there was a beautiful, ornate castle that seemed like it came from a dream. This was the castle many noble families loved to vacation in from all across Europe, including many royal families that would invite the favored court members. It was nestled deep in the Alps, only accessible by horse or foot. This castle was designed to be a sanctuary as a place to worship the Lord, as showcased in the Biblical paintings that adorn the castle. Today, people can only visit this castle from afar as all roads to it have been blocked off and it's only if a person can withstand the intense hike through the Swiss Alps.
