How much of video editing actually needs to be done manually every time?
I’ve been working on a small video editing automation workflow lately.
The goal isn’t to automate creativity or storytelling. It’s to reduce the repetitive work — organizing media, building timelines, basic cuts, subtitles, rendering, and some of the checks around them.
Part of the reason is practical. I want to build and run my own content channels, but I don’t want video production to slowly become another full-time job.
I’ve made some progress, and the workflow is starting to work.
The interesting problem now is figuring out where automation should stop, and where human judgment should stay.
If you create content regularly, what part of video editing takes up the most unnecessary time for you?
Manual work is always better than ai slop you can use ai for some clips but full video made with ai is unprofessional and a waste of money and resources
New case study: motion product film for a mobile streaming app. Some shots filmed on camera, some AI generated, the rest built in After Effects

Finally had the time to edit a video for myself after being busy with client work. As a video editor, I’m always constantly looking for different ways to deliver a message in my edits, and here’s the direction I went with this one.
What do you think about the editing style?
By the way, I’m taking on clients for long-term video editing support. yeahhh!!!!
