Building Billing Data Gateway v1.0.0: Why I Chose Zero-Copy Architecture
Most cloud billing systems spend more time moving data than processing it.
While building Billing Data Gateway v1.0.0, my goal was to reduce unnecessary memory copies and create a deterministic ingestion pipeline for large cloud billing exports.
Key engineering decisions included:
• POSIX mmap() for zero-copy file access
• Fixed-point 64-bit arithmetic for financial precision
• Bitmask-based validation for efficient record integrity checks
• Streaming JSON and CSV serialization
• High-performance C11 implementation targeting Linux systems
The result was a processing throughput of over 487,000 records per second in benchmark testing.
This project demonstrates how careful systems engineering can improve both performance and maintainability without relying on heavyweight frameworks.

Nice fit for Playwright. The failure boundary I would make explicit is snapshot ? diff ? notification: fixed fixtures for price/stock changes, a no-change run that proves no email, and an idempotency key so retries cannot alert twice. That gives you a deterministic regression...
