Summary
A well documented design to ensure smooth handoff to engineers for implementation while capturing any possible edge cases in the user experience.
Process
Feature Design Kick Off - meeting
Meet the stakeholders (Game designer,Project manager, Engineers & QA)
Understand the design intent and deliverables
Understand the feature scope and schedule
2. Research and Ideation Phases
Research competitor games and identify SWOT
If this feature is a part of an existing game, identify how players are expected to experience this feature within the game to ensure feature framework is consistent with the existing game
Create a couple of iterations to come up with the ideal flow
3. First Draft Sync - meeting
Meet with Stakeholders to ensure the wireframes captured all the design requirements.
This is the opportunity for stakeholders to give any feedback and/or raise any technical concerns
4. Iteration
Iterate on the design based on the first draft sync
Create final wireframes and flowchart
Create annotated documentation for implementation. *This includes different states, first time experience vs existing user experience, FTUE for onboard if required and more
Create prototype
5. Feature Design Review
Meet with stakeholders to present the final wireframes and prototype
Allow for additional feedback and address any technical concerns.
6. Final Iteration
Iterate on any feedback in the design review
Prepare Figma Documentation for hand offs
During the iteration phase, it is expected that I will occasionally ping individual stakeholders to ask questions that can help with the design.
What's included
Flow Chart and/or Sitemap
I will create a flow chart and/or sitemap of the feature to provide a clear visual representation of its structure and navigation.
Wireframe
Additionally, I will develop fully annotated wireframes to guide engineering implementation and facilitate the QA test plan.
Prototype
Using Figma, I will produce a prototype for user testing to gather feedback and ensure the design meets user needs.
