How did I get here (UX)?

🎓 Chapter 1 (Humble Beginnings)

With a background in IT, Graphic Design, Marketing, & Engineering, Aaliyah pursued degrees in Art & Advertising/Public Relations. Where she struggled to find her place as a creative but, still passionate about the WHY.

😞 Chapter 2 (Frustrations)

After failing at getting accepted to Ad Schools and Agencies, Aaliyah worked as a freelance graphic designer at various smaller agencies, where she honed her design skills and gained experience working with stakeholders. However, she soon realized that her passion for design could be put to greater use. Then UX Design started to magically pop-up on her LinkedIn timeline.

💡 Chapter 3 (Finding the passion)

As Aaliyah shifted towards UX design, she was starting from scratch and learning something new all over again. By using free online resources, and utilizing various learning platforms and techniques to gain knowledge and skills. This dedication and perseverance allowed her to make a successful transition and develop a strong foundation in user-centered design principles.

Landing a role at MINTNFT, a Web 3 NFT Marketplace startup, where she did desktop research, wire-framing, and rapid prototyping all while collaborating with a cross functional team. Learning Web 3, was getting interesting each day.

🔥 Present (Continued development)

In addition to her day-to-day responsibilities as a creative entrepreneur, Aaliyah takes advantage of ongoing learning opportunities, such as attending conferences or seeking out mentorship, to further develop her skills and stay up-to-date with emerging trends in the field of UX, Design, AI, and Web 3.

Currently seeking her next role as a UX/Product Designer.
