A tool shuts down, a subscription stops making sense, or the company simply outgrew the spreadsheet. Now years of records have to move — and the usual plan is an intern, two weeks and a lot of copy-paste.

I move it by script instead. Out of the old tool through its export or API, transformed to fit, into the new one with structure intact: folders, pages, tables, links, dates, owners. Quip to Notion, Excel to Airtable, one CRM to another — if both ends have an export or an API, it can be moved.

The part that matters is verification: record counts must match on both sides, spot-checks on formatting, and a short list of anything that needed a human decision. You see the numbers before the old tool is retired.

Nothing is deleted at the source until you have signed off on the copy.
