Summary
In a copy edit, I search and mark flaws and errors at a technical level. I make marks and comments in the document using the word processor of your choice (such as MS Word, or Google Docs). Specifically, I point out spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and consistency errors.
When I finish, you get a marked and commented copy of your manuscript, and a typed holistic debrief covering my recommendations and suggested next steps for you
Process
1. First, we meet and greet, discuss the manuscript, and any concerns or questions you may have. We'll establish what we need from each other, and set clear expectations, scope, and compensation. Communication is welcome at ANY time, so you feel comfortable and heard.
2. You send me the document, and sit back and relax, knowing it's in good hands. If you'd like, I will do a nightly check-in, or I could work through to the end, contacting you when necessary - it's all totally up to you.
3. When finished, you will receive a copy of the edited and commented manuscript, and a holistic debrief with my recommendations and suggested next steps for you. I will also discuss any questions, concerns, or compliments!
4. We both sleep easy - you know your draft is completely set up for your next revision... and I can rest my eyeballs.
