I build the pipeline that removes that person from the critical path. Push to a branch, the pipeline builds, tests, scans, and deploys, and if something fails it rolls back on its own instead of paging you.
I ran a three stage GitLab CI pipeline for a Eurosystem grade financial platform where releases are audited and a bad deploy is a reportable event, and cut lead time by 60 percent doing it. The habits from that environment are what you are buying: every step explicit, every artifact versioned, nothing that only works on one person's laptop.

I build on a feature branch against a non production environment. Your main branch is never touched until you approve it as a normal pull request. Then I deliberately break a deploy to prove the rollback works, because an untested rollback is not a rollback.
