Summary

I have 3 years of experience as a UI tester for a health insurance company and understand how important it is to develop and execute comprehensive test cases that capture all possible scenarios and outcomes of code or configuration changes in the testing environments before they make it into the production environment. I am detail oriented and can follow directions as needed. I am on your side and will always deliver quality work.

Process

1) Meet with client to learn about the program and what it’s used for.
2) Discuss what it is I need to do.
3) Spend time becoming familiar with the program (click on every button, select variations of drop downs, etc. to see what happens)
4) Learn the “happy path” of a program and create a spreadsheet that captures data variables and outcomes
5) Analyze how the program is set up in the background (code/config)
6) Develop test cases that go against the “happy path” in order to break the program
7) Execute test cases and identify any potential risks or issues
8) Communicate the issues
9) Test some more. Depending on the project, test case development will include targeted UAT, regression, and end-to-end testing.

  • Do you have any work to show?

    At the moment I don’t. The work I do for the health insurance company I work at is confidential and I cannot share examples of my work. However, if given the chance, I can put something together after meeting with you for free and you can decide if you see potential!

  • What else do you do at your role?

    I submit system defects and propose enhancements when needed.

  • Do you have a computer science background?

    I don’t. I studied Criminal Justice as an undergraduate student with some courses in international issues as well as business and marketing, but I’ve learned a lot from my current role as a subject matter expert. I have recently (2023) completed introductory courses in Python, HTML & CSS, and Java with a 4.0 GPA on all and I’m working toward a certificate in Software Development.
