What's included
I will develop a concept of illustration.
Together, we will discover how the flow of your book will best connect with my illustrations! Style and References: • I will gather inspiration and references from you, as well as relevant book content/writing, to allow me to draft an illustrated concept. • Together with your references, I will advise you on a style of illustration. As shown in my portfolio, I am skilled in several artistic mediums. Though I do most illustration in a digital format such as Photoshop, I am also able to create with traditional art such as inks and watercolor! I can offer combined mediums (traditional and digital), as well. Depending on the direction you wish to take your project, This opens up many beautiful possibilities! Timeframe and Drafting: • You will provide me with the planned number of pages and/or book cover. It is okay if this changes later, I simply need an indicator of scale for your project! • You will provide me with the timeframe of your project, and whether or not you need the work done by a set date. Together with this information, we will develop a rough timeline, including the estimated delivery date. • From here, I will send you drafts and sketches, and will collect feedback and your thoughts. I will make edits, and send them back to you. This process will repeat until you are happy with the work. NOTE: I do not place a limit on rough draft revisions; I wish for you to be fully satisfied with the art that accompanies your book! I am willing to make draft revisions as many times as it takes.
I will create the final illustrations.
Once you are satisfied with the drafts and the direction we are heading in, I will begin illustrating the final work! Before I begin: • I will provide you with an estimate of the time I believe it will take to complete the illustrations. If my estimate changes at any point, I will let you know as soon as possible, and give a new estimate. • At this point, once the rough drafts are completed and approved, I should have a set amount of pages and/or book cover to illustrate. NOTE: no pages should be added after I start the final work; only pages removed. Throughout the final illustration process: • I will keep open communication with you, frequently providing updates. You are welcome to request an update, or to view the work, at any time. • As this is the final stage of work, I will ask that you do not make any large requests for edits (for example, changing a page to something entirely new). However, I am of course happy to discuss smaller edits at this time (for example, small changes in the current illustration)!
I will deliver the illustrations.
Once the final work is completed, we can celebrate! ☆ Woohoo! • By this point, we will have been in regular contact, and I will have provided you with many updates and options for feedback. Therefore, I will not make edits at this time. If you are dissatisfied with any part of the work, we can work together to find a solution. • I will send you high-quality versions of every illustration, in the file formats that you need (for example, .EPS, .PNG, .JPG, .TIFF). If you require a special file type for your publisher or other purposes, I will help deliver that as well. • I do not deliver my raw files (.AI, .PSD) for copyright integrity purposes, as is standard industry practice. • In the case that I have created physical work for you (painted or ink illustrations), you may request that I send them to you at this time, and I will ask that you cover the cost of shipping. You may also choose not to receive the physical work, and only receive the digital copies. It is up to you! • I reserve the right to use images of the work I create for you in my portfolio.
