Do you proofread manually?
Absolutely. It's impossible to use software to proofread your document carefully & accurately. I read every word & make the changes manually. I will provide you with tracked edits & changes as well as a clean document with all changes accepted. You can compare the edits/changes with your original.
Is this service confidential?
Yes, 100%. I download your document, edit / proofread it, return it to you and then delete it from my computer immediately. I never share it with anyone else. If you have a non-disclosure agreement, I'd be happy to sign it.
What is the difference between copy-editing and proofreading?
Copy-editing ensures that your text has a consistent style and tone, flows well, conveys your message and has as few spelling and grammatical errors as possible. Proofreading is a final check for avoidable errors.
When you edit do you rewrite the document?
When I edit, I'm usually correcting an awkward sentence. I don't offer to rewrite through an editing service as a rewrite can be a mammoth undertaking. The other thing about rewriting is that the document will have my voice and no longer have yours.

I will check your copy for avoidable errors and correct them, so that your final copy is ready to publish.
Editing Service
I will check the structure and flow of your text. I will not change your words unless they're spelled wrongly or used incorrectly. Sometimes I may need to rewrite an awkward phrase, but I am intentional about keeping your voice.
Document Delivery
I will deliver two files. One will contain the edits and changes using tracking in MS Word. The other will be the final edited document with all changes accepted. You can compare the edits /changes with your original document. Where there are any queries, I will alert you in a comment.
