So, you’re considering my custom demo and quote for your commercial project? Well, buckle up, because this ride is about to get as entertaining as a cat video marathon. I’ve got 15 years of experience in music recording and sound effects production. That’s right, I’ve been making noises professionally for over a decade. When it comes to video editing, I’m a triple threat with Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and Davinci Resolve. Five years of slicing and dicing footage like a sushi chef, so cutting out speaking errors, and dead space and making the color grade look pretty, should be a piece of cake.

1. Organize the footage. Keeping your video clips and audio files in order will allow me to find the pieces I need when I need them quickly. Decide on a management strategy and file structure, and keep it consistent. Then I will create folders for your project on my device and make subfolders for your raw clips depending on their type, or where they belong in your edit.

2. Make a plan. It doesn’t have to be overly elaborate, but we should have a good idea about what your project will look and sound like. Create an outline of your vision, or better yet, make a shot list detailing the visual and the audio components of every scene.

3. Choose clips that show important action. This is self-explanatory. I will communicate constantly to make sure which clips will work to highlight your vision and what you want to say.

4. Use establishing shots when and wherever needed. Viewers like to feel situated. While close-up and medium shots show action up close, they often leave out the characters’ (or subjects’) environment. An establishing shot shows a scene’s wider context, allowing your viewers to understand where everything fits, helping immerse them in the setting.

5. Use the right transitions — or none at all. This depends on the subject matter and what you are trying to say in your project.

6. I will pay attention to pacing. Pacing is everything to keep the audience interested. Too slow, they click off. Too fast, they won't get the meaning. It has to be like Goldilocks-just right!

7. Choose a color scheme. I use color correction tools to give your footage a natural look.

8. I will never neglect sound! That sets the mood for your content. Sound fx sets the feel of it. I will suggest sounds and music to you or you can provide or suggest to me what sounds and music you are looking for.

9. Export to the right format. I can export to popular video formats that include .webm, .mp4, .flv, .wmv, and .mov.
