"It works, except when it doesn't." Those are the jobs I'm usually called for, and they're almost never what they look like.
A slow network that turns out to be a duplex mismatch. An application that fails while ping succeeds, because of MTU on a tunnelled path. A VPN dropping every few minutes because rekeying and dead-peer detection are fighting a NAT timeout. A fault that only happens in one direction, because the return path doesn't match the forward path.
I work from packet captures, interface counters and the running config, and I tell you the cause with the evidence for it — not a list of things to try.
Deliverables
The cause, in writing, with the capture or counters that prove it
The fix, and how to verify it held
A live troubleshooting session if the fault needs to be reproduced
If I can't find it, I say so, and you don't pay for a diagnosis I didn't deliver.
