FAQs
What does "strategic design" mean?
Rather than just focusing on creating a beautiful visual identity (but that is important too), all decisions are based on your goals and what is already on the market. We want to make sure customers get that feeling you want to convey through your business and that we stand out from the competition.
What does "ethically minded" mean?
Besides my experience in design, I also have a degree in biological research and sustainability. I therefore focus on working with people and businesses who have an environmental or social mission as a part of their business. Like making a product that reaches an often overlooked audience or has more eco-friendly packaging. If you feel unsure if this is you, please reach out anyway! I would love to see if we are a great fit.
How long does a project take?
I take 6-8 weeks in total from the first conversation to you having the brand guide in your inbox. This allows us to have conversations throughout and make any iterations you would like before we launch.
What's included
Discovery and market positioning
We meet digitally for two hours to deep-dive into your business, goals and how I can make the new visual identity a success. I bring a range of questions and exercises to help you explore new opportunities and talk about topics like competitors and offers. I then compile this into a clear summary that becomes the reference for the project moving forward.
Mood boards
Based on our conversations and research into the market on my end, I share 2-3 mood boards with potential directions moving forward. The goal in this meeting is to understand what resonates with you and establishing a joint language around design. We choose a direction to move forward with and you let me know of any tweaks we need to make.
Logo design
I create two concepts for all aspects of the visual language. This includes two options for responsive logo design - meaning the mark has different variations based on the use (like social media, small formats and your website for example)
Brand type selection
I make a selection of typefaces that create the right feeling for your brand based on our strategy session and overall visual identity. We can use all free type options from places like Google fonts or if you have a budget for it, we can look into fonts from type foundries.
Brand colours
I create flexible and inclusive colour palettes that have a mix of tones to give you options for backgrounds, main brand colours and bold statements. I use a contrast checker to make sure the brand colours follow accessibility rules.
Brand pattern
A brand pattern can add a more branded experience to anything from your website footer to packaging. The pattern is provided in a seamless tile and in all colour ways so you can use it at different sizes.
Icons/spot illustrations
9 custom mini illustrations or icons that can be used to show your values, steps in your ordering process or anything else you would like to clarify to customers.
Brand guide
Once you have chosen the direction you want to move forward with and we have made any changes you would like to see (2 rounds of revisions included), I put together a detailed brand guide. This shows an overview of all the brand assets and shows examples of how to use them day to day.
