Step 1-Research: I start out with research on the topic. Being a nerd, I want to know it all and it helps me out in understanding what am I working on. Then, I create a sketch in my mind on what type of editing should i go for this video.
Step 2-Finding Assets: Finding the right assets is vital. Without it, the final result would be incomplete. Working as a video editor for 7 years has given me extensive knowledge of websites that helps me find out the right asset.
Step 3-Editing: Now after importing all the files into the project of Premiere Pro, I start making the videos timeline on the voiceover and leave a marker for text or elements that I need to find or use later on. Then I fill out the markers that I left by adding elements, Icons, animations and text animations.
Step 4-SFX & Synchronization: Sound Design is a fun thing for me because I'm also a small time musician myself. So I want to get the sound effects right, the music right, the bgm right and the decibels should work with the videos intensity so it should rise and drop at perfect timestamps. Then I sync if anything is left.
Step 5-Quick View: I do not put extra effort after making the video to check for the flaws (of course I do check the spelling mistakes or editing error) but I just quickly take a glance at the video by looking at the timeline. Then I export and render the video.
Step 6-Grab Popcorn and Watch my own Video: At last, I watch the video as an audience would. I don't see it as a video editor. I just try mimic the general audience to see if they would engage with the video or not. And if its interesting enough or not. If it is, then I deliver it to the client. If its not, I try to make things more simple even it is one of the best edits. Then both versions are delivered to the client and we wait for the approval and feedback.
