First thing is to talk about the characters, with the descriptions I'm able to create a character sheet with expressions and different positions.

Then we define and sketch the scenes with the author's descriptions or just reading the manuscript.

The sketch gets refined to have the characters in place.

Once we have everything set I start adding color.

Now the illustration is ready.
