A copy edit addresses any grammar issues, formatting needs, typos, or fact checking on your manuscript. This is a sentence-level edit that ensures your writing is technically sound and without any errors. In all my copy edits, I also work with improving the flow and readability of your writing.
What you’ll receive in a copy edit:
Two copies of your edited manuscript—one with changes highlighted and one with the changes accepted so you have a clean copy to look through.
Notes on what errors or potential issues I’ve identified for your review, including:
An opportunity to reject any corrections you choose to ignore or disagree with
A character and setting profile to include in your story bible, allowing you to keep track of important details
It’s also important to understand what a copy edit is NOT:
It is not a deep dive into the structure of your story. I will, however, give you notes throughout to highlight any potential challenges you might want to address.
It is also not a critique or content edit. Regardless, I will help you improve the flow of your writing, offering suggestions to make your writing more engaging.
