Features

The website app itself is deployed to our growing list of edge locations. The default ones are Frankfurt am Main (DE), New York (US) and Seattle (US), additional locations can be enabled upon request. Static content is delivered from 40+ locations to improve efficiency and speed, please refer to section Content Delivery Network (CDN).

All website deployments come bundled with a staging instance which is used to present development updates to the clients frequently. Additionally, a preview instance is provided which is a clone of the production system. On there both the client and development team can ensure all the animations, content, and design aspects are correct before releasing it to production. Only you or authorized staff may access these sites.

Static assets such as videos and images are cached on our edge locations that are spread on 40+ cities on 6 continents. Therefore these assets can be accessed by users from servers near their geographic location yielding in lower latency and higher throughput thus resulting in faster page load times.

We really do have a need for speed. In order to make our websites faster, we pre-render every page on startup, generate and compress every image and video in a huge set of resolutions and file formats, deliver only the data that the user really needs and load files that are not needed from the start in the background so that the page can immediately be viewed by the user.

All changes made by the client or an engineer are automatically versioned. This gives you the possibility to roll back to any state in the past in case something is amiss. Additionally, it enables a transparent history on who did which changes at what time in the case that there are multiple persons involved in the project.

From the beginning the core of our websites was developed with search engine optimization in mind, resulting in many intuitive configuration options that allow you to achieve the best possible ranking.

The website includes a service worker responsible for local caching and offline-responses. This enables better page load times and some search engines such as Google rank your page higher and therefore yield better search results. It also enables running the website like a standalone app on any mobile device.

We provide an easy way for the customer to change content such as images, translations, videos, metadata, articles and more through a file system.

To ensure a high code quality and correctness of the data each change will be automatically run through different tests. After the changes are checked and deemed valid they'll get automatically deployed to the correct staging, preview or production website instance.

In order to ensure continuous and secure uptime we automatically issue and renew TLS (SSL) certificates for all website deployments. This means traffic from the end user to our servers is always secured.

Our core website framework has great support for multiple languages. If you choose to start with one language you'll always have the possibility to add additional languages easily afterwards. It is joined by an intelligent language detection system that delivers the website to a visitor in the best language possible based on their language settings, location and other parameters.

We are able to provide RSS, JSON & Atom feeds for your dynamic content like articles, projects publications, blogs. This enables users to embed these feeds directly into their feed readers.

Pricing

We always do fixed prices for the initial design & development starting at $5000. Thereafter, we charge a monthly hosting & maintenance fee, the amount of which is determined depending on the size/complexity of the website (usually between $50 and $150).

If it comes to further development we usually negotiate a fixed price or an hourly rate, depending on how it is desired.

Minor programmatic changes as well as providing support for the administration of the content are usually done free of charge, as long as it is possible for us in terms of time. This is a matter of course to us and in our opinion belongs to good customer support.
