  I specialize in setting up effective backup and recovery strategies for PostgreSQL databases. I also specialize in recovering the database in cases where there is corruption, or the database not starting, leveraging 17 years' experience working as PostgreSQL DBA. I also specialize in optimizing SQL, writing stored procedures, and optimally tuning database settings and parameters. I can get a slow database performing optimally by employing various strategies such as partitioning, effective indexing, SQL optimization and Hardware optimization. I have also developed good strategies for managing database connectivity securely, with effective and easy methods for managing user permissions and grants. Although I specialize in monitoring and managing databases on AWS EC2 instances, I work equally well with RDS /Aurora or standalone server instances.

• Linux Sysadmin

  With 24 years' experience working with Linux, I am able to perform a very wide range of Linux based systems administration tasks, from setting up and compiling Linux kernels to setting up Salt Stack/Puppet automation, bash scripting, setting up various authentication and file sharing schemes securely. I work equally well in RedHat based or Debian based Linux installations. I specialize in Bash and Python scripting.
