I'll ask questions about the project and the end result you'd expect. I'd brainstorm for a bit - I'd take out keywords from your description and think of subjects, colors, fonts, feelings associated with those keywords so that I can better identify the vision the poster needs to convey. Then I would draw a couple of quick sketches of the ideas I have. After that I pick the one that seems to depict what you need best and I recreate it digitally.
