Working on a new project, I try to find out what are the real needs of our users and the pain points they face in this area. This step is the most important one because it proves if the app would be useful indeed. Another important step is to analyse the competition - what are their strengths & weaknesses in order to improve our product. After creating the user persona, we can establish the user journey, come up with solutions. Next, I create the paper wireframes, which allows me to quickly draft iterations of each screen of the app in order to make sure that all the elements would be well-suited to address user pain points. The final screens will be transformed into digital wireframes. I create the design system next (colors, typography) and start working on our first mockups. When these are finished, I prepare the first usability study (check with real users if my design is clear and receive new feedback). Using the result from the previous test I address the new changes, finish our last set of mockups and check them again with another round of usability test. If the result is all positive we have our product ready to launch.
