Client: GemGem, a premier online jewelry marketplace.
Understanding the Initial State of GemGem's Website:
Prior to the redesign, GemGem's website faced considerable challenges that limited its effectiveness as a premier online jewelry marketplace. With over 10,000 active users, the platform struggled to deliver an optimal user experience due to its outdated design and lack of modern functionalities. The website’s appearance was not aligned with the luxury and elegance expected of high-end jewelry retail, which impacted the brand’s perception negatively among its clientele.
The interface was not user-friendly, featuring a cluttered layout and cumbersome navigation that often led to a frustrating browsing experience. This resulted in a higher bounce rate as users found it difficult to locate products or information quickly. The website was also not fully responsive, which posed a significant issue as an increasing number of users accessed the site from mobile devices. This lack of mobile optimization led to poor user engagement and diminished sales opportunities, particularly from mobile users.
Moreover, the website's backend was rigid, making it challenging to update content regularly or integrate effective SEO practices, which further stunted its ability to rank well in search engines and attract new users. The absence of integrated marketing tools also meant that GemGem was unable to capitalize on potential upselling and cross-selling opportunities through personalized user interactions and targeted campaigns.

As the project lead at NexAI Tech, I directed a comprehensive redesign of the GemGem website, focusing on enhancing visual aesthetics, improving user experience, and enriching content to better engage users and convey the brand's luxury ethos.
Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator, Figma for design and prototyping, allowing for real-time collaboration and iterative feedback within the design team.
