I recently had the opportunity to design a website for a non-profit organization, NAIT, which supports Islamic Center Divisions, Imam Funds, and American Trust Publications.
Here’s the things that I use along the way:
Color matters more than we think
I chose green as the primary color, and it wasn’t just a random decision. Green is deeply rooted in Islamic culture, symbolizing peace, harmony, and growth. It adds a layer of authenticity and respect to the website’s design.
Typeface defines tone
Futura, the typeface I used, has a modern, clean, and approachable feel. It's timeless yet progressive, much like the mission of NAIT. It shows that tradition and modernity can coexist beautifully in design.
Non-profits deserve just as much attention
Designing for a non-profit doesn’t mean compromising on quality. In fact, it’s even more crucial to create an engaging user experience because their cause deserves to be presented in the best way possible.
Design is not just about aesthetics; it’s about purpose
Every choice, from colors to fonts, reflects the organization’s values. By focusing on these, the design amplifies the message of trust and faith that NAIT embodies.
At the end of the day, it’s not just about making something look good—it’s about making something that resonates with its audience.
