Consumed in the flame of one-sided Affection

“Sometimes, some thoughts are like that.” She laughed relating. She
was still looking at the food.
“Like what?”
“Consuming. You get up and you try to wash up but the thoughts
linger in the back of your head like it is not enough they have consumed
you in your dreams. Even the simplest tasks like changing your clothes
trigger them. You hold on to your bags and books and walk for classes yet
the thoughts trail behind like relentless shadows. The sound of trees moving
against the wind, People’s laughter, Having lunch with friends, simply
classmates working on their assignments- All suddenly seem to have a
connection with the thoughts.”
“That much?” He looked at his friend, worried.
“Even worse.” She sipped from the tea and put it down.
“Your mind is a battleground, overrun by relentless thoughts that
devour every fiber of your being. Starting from your heart, it dances from
one organ of yours to the other claiming everything on the path, eating
what is left of you one by one, slowly and steadily, taking over your actions
and your identity. Attempts to reason with yourself seem to only worsen the
situation, as if you have finally given them the right to take over and that
will be your cue for the utmost struggle against it all.
It consumes you one by one and there is nothing you can do about it,
powerless because at first, at the beginning of it all, they were such happy
thoughts.”
