Mentory: Reimagining Professional Connections

Callebe Silva

Problem

Many professionals seeking mentorship struggle to find meaningful connections that align with their specific goals and expertise areas.

UX Considerations

I focused on making the dashboard feel simple and welcoming, avoiding the overwhelm that comes with most matching platforms. The clean layout naturally draws your eye to the "Get Matched" button, while the warm burgundy color scheme creates a space that feels both professional and friendly. I made sure mentor cards clearly show what each person specializes in, so users can quickly spot someone who matches their needs. The home screen offers different ways to engage—whether you're ready to be matched, want to browse top mentors, or prefer to explore educational resources first. This gives users freedom to approach mentorship in whatever way feels most comfortable to them.

Solution

I built Mentory around a smart matching system that really gets to know what you're looking for in a mentor. Rather than endless scrolling through profiles, it asks about your career goals, what skills you want to develop, and even how you prefer to communicate. The home screen makes it super clear what to do next - hit that "Get Matched" button when you're ready, or browse through some hand-picked mentors if you're just exploring. I kept the matching questions quick and focused, so you're not filling out endless forms, and I made sure to be upfront about how the matching works. In the end, Mentory connects people with mentors they'll actually click with, without all the usual hassle and guesswork.
