Feedback Forward Web App Design for Opportunity Education

Situation
Opportunity Education aimed to extend the capabilities of its Feedback Forward Browser Extension by developing a comprehensive web application. The goal was to create a product that could revolutionize classroom feedback, making it more dynamic, personalized, and data-driven, while seamlessly integrating with existing educational systems like Clever and Google Classroom.
Task
As the Senior Product Designer, I was tasked with leading the design of the Feedback Forward Web App.
My role was to translate the strategic vision into a functional and intuitive product that would empower teachers to provide real-time feedback, streamline grading processes, and enhance student engagement.
Note: This tool is only available for clients part of the Opportunity Education Network.

Action
To ensure the product’s success, I took the following actions:
Product Ideation & Conceptualization
Collaborated closely with the Director of Product Strategy, Chief Learning Officer and Data Analysts to define the product’s core features, including customizable grading criteria, daily feedback mechanisms, advanced analytics, and a student view interface.
Design and Development
Led the end-to-end design process for the Web App. This included creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that aligned with the product’s goals. I also designed a cohesive user experience that integrated smoothly with the existing Clever system, allowing educators to easily access and utilize class and student data.
Redesigning Sign up / Login Flow & Introducing Onboarding Process
Landing Page Designs Web & Mobile
Developed and maintained a robust Design System, ensuring consistency across the app’s user interface. This not only sped up the design and development process but also improved the overall quality and accuracy of the product.
Advanced Features Implementation
Designed key features such as real-time data tracking and visualization tools that enabled teachers to monitor student progress and identify those in need of additional support. Additionally, I focused on creating a seamless experience for both teachers and administrators, incorporating functionalities like custom groupings and feedback sessions.
Result
The Feedback Forward Web App successfully launched in Beta and is currently being used by the Opportunity Education network schools. The product’s advanced features have significantly enhanced the feedback process, allowing teachers to focus more on engaging with students rather than on administrative tasks.
The seamless integration with Clever and the intuitive design of the Web App have positioned Feedback Forward as a transformative tool in the education sector, driving better outcomes for both teachers and students.
