I worked with Claire Deakin, an author and a poet who has been recognized internationally as an international award-winning author, I built her website on Framer solely to achieve the following objectives:
To create a unique channel of communication, connection, and information between her and her outside world (audience).
To some extent, to prevent impersonation, be unique in brand style, voice, medium, and means of communication.
Lastly, to ensure that all of her books are under one seo-riched domain, one platform, and security to enhance easy access to her books on their individual platforms such as amazon, barnes and noble, kobo, and more..
How far am I able to achieve all of this objectives?
First, I believed that the sole aim of getting a website as a brand is to be professional in one's image to the outside world. So, this main aim was achieved by designing a visually aesthetics and user's interface website using her brand colour, legible and professional fonts, appropriate placements of sections, as well as their respective informations.
Secondly, I ensured that she bought a domain, I guided her through the process of getting one from Godaddy. The aim of this is to prevent impersonation, make her uniquely identifiable and professional in her activities on her social media platforms.
Futhermore, her social links were added to her website header and footer to ensure that there is a back-and-forth movement between her website and her social media by her users and audience.
Thirdly, I did not only develop her website, I also did Search Engine Optimization and added Google Analytics to her website to track the traffic performance and find a way to make improvements as soon as possible.
Part of the SEO strategy implemented on the website were On-Page SEO e.g Alt Texts, Title Tags, and Meta Tags, Off-Page SEO e.g Link Building, Keyword Research, and Organic Social Media Marketing.
While all this were in place, I was able to increase her website traffic by 300% in one month and increase in book sales by 50%.
What were the struggles I faced during this project and how do I overcome them?
I thought I knew it all when I was about to get started with Claire's work but at some point, I was stuck, no ideas was coming - I mean the User's experience aspect of the design. I overcame the challenge by taking a break from the developmental project and invest more in making research and getting feedback from people without informing them about the website ahead of time.
I would just tell them to check the site and bring out some areas they feel unsatisfied about. So, based on what I have done, I was able to apply those corrections to the work ahead and complete the project not too early but within the agreed time frame.
