Typography

I knew I wanted a classic contrasting serif with character and Italics. After looking through 50+ fonts, I settled on Selvina Italic. The perfect choice to set the mood for a romantic thriller with a modern feel. It would also compliment the high quality cinematography and casting.

Poster

Initial concepts of poster where I experimented with layout, type scale copy and balance

E-book

In one of the early iterations of the audio book cover, I experimented with having the author's name in white. Although I loved the style, I felt it would be more appropriate to be used in the book (shown below).

Iterations

Type scale

Initial type scale with 4 additions

When designing the eBook, I realised my initial type scale wasn't robust enough to cover digital and print assets of all sizes. Where the font was was too big for purpose, I went down in the scale, keeping to the same ratio. In the end, I added four more sizes to the scale.

Kerning

One of the biggest challenges I faced on the project was kerning of the typeface. Because the the letters were italic, the unevenness was more prominent. I liked the idea of aligning the verticals and stems of the two words to create a more harmonious look.
