Space is an online marketplace that transparently connects homeowners with prospective tenants. The house renting process has become convoluted for homeowners and expensive for prospective tenants. This is due to the presence of numerous middlemen who act as gatekeepers. As result, there has been a surge in rent prices.

Space wants to be the platform that directly connects landlords with prospective owners. The platform vets rental properties and curate them on its web application. Prospective tenants can browse through vacant rental properties and reach out directly to the landlord for closing of the deal — no middlemen involved.

The founders of were looking to raise a pre-seed fund from friends and families for the market validation phase of the venture. With the pre-seed funds, they plan to start lean and generate organic market pull for their product.

The goal is to create a pitch deck that portrays the current standing of the venture and its future projections.

Meeting was held with the founders to understand vision, mission, product and strategy. Information was also gathered on their target market, competition and unique value proposition.

To test the founders' claims and gather more data, I conducted market research. The process involved analyzing existing businesses in the industry, understanding industry behavioral trends and industry financial trends. I identified that doing in-person vetting of rental properties before listing them on the platform can an aspect that enable them deliver a compelling experience to prospective tenants.
