SIC's table tennis team wrapped up their tournament with two gold medals, one silver medal, and a bronze medal in the recently concluded University Meet 2023 Table Tennis Tournament held in NEUST General Tinio Campus last January 16-17.
Wild Mantis' duo Micah Licuanan and Camille De Belen proved supremacy after snatching the victory from the College of Management and Business Technology (CMBT) Tigers during the championship match of the Table Tennis women’s doubles category. CMBT dominated the first two sets of the match but the duo of Licuanan and De Belen started a blazing run to take the match into a decider eventually taming the Tigers and pulling up an upset win..
In the final round of the mixed doubles category, Camille De Belen and Alvir Hans Asindido completely outplayed College of Management and Business Technology (CMBT) Tigers to take the gold medal.
Lharence Soriaga and Angelo Lucas of the men's doubles category outshone College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Spartans in the semifinal round that brought them to the finals where they competed against College of Communications and Information Technology (CICT) Falcons. In the end of the tournament, Soriaga and Lucas won the silver medal after falling short in competing in the best-of-five sets match.
Alvir Hans Asindido advanced to the semifinal round by winning the elimination round and quarterfinals. Asindido won the bronze medal in the single's men division after competing against College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) Falcons.
