Project Overview:

A few months ago I entered a Designathon with a team, and we collaborated to create the project you see now.

The Problem:

The aim of the project is to redesign a public transport app for the area of Greater Toronto in order to make it more accessible for users with a disability or impairment. The points below were derived from this brief by myself and my team.
Accessing important information that better prepares users to navigate various public transit routes with ease - This includes access to schedules for more accessible transit methods, accessible seating, safety measures available to them, and assistance available to users should they change route.
There is no centralised/unified and trusted source that provides users with the information they need, and enables them to perform certain tasks (e.g., ticketing) in the Greater Toronto Area.
Users feel judged when riding public transit.
Some users are not the most tech savvy and cannot rely on complex digital products only.
Some users are newly experiencing their disability, and public transit makes adjusting to their new way of life even more challenging.

How Might We:

How might we increase the accessibility of public transportation, and connect those with accessibility needs to existing resources that can assist them?
