FastJobs is a renowned job site specialising in non-executive positions. It caters to both job seekers and employers, with a particular focus on part-time and temporary jobs.
In 2018, FastJobs launched a job kiosk to provide an alternative channel for job applications, especially for the elderly and those unfamiliar with technology. Jobs can be applied for in a few easy steps.
This project demanded a quick turnaround. With FastJobs slated to appear at roadshows and expos, the new kiosk app needed to be live within two months.

ROLE
In this project, I serve as the sole contributing Product Designer. I work closely with the FastJobs Project Manager to ensure we complete the experience design within two months.
DESIGN
A fast turnaround requires a swift approach to the design process. We're clearly building for a specific target audience as outlined in the brief - senior citizens and individuals less familiar with technology.
The sourced kiosk features a vertically fitted 40" LCD screen, providing ample space for experience design.
Wireframes are created to test the size of elements and the layout hierarchy. Balancing the aspect ratio of these elements to ensure the size of the interactable components makes sense was a challenge.
The prototyping feature in Figma has made this process possible. It allows me to quickly adjust the wireframes, identify any irregularities, make iterations, and test the prototype on the kiosk until I'm satisfied.
Essential accessibility such as good contrast is required.
Accessibility is crucial for this project. During the design phase, we prioritise readability and ensure the contrast passes the WCAG AA and AAA standards.
This iterative design process allowed me to adapt the existing FastJobs design system for the kiosk, minimising the need for new components and improving engineering efficiency.

OUTCOME
The process of applying for a job through the kiosk involves three steps — Search, Apply, Send.
A SMS or Whatsapp message will be sent to the applicant detailing the next step of the application. This method eliminates the need for filling out application forms prematurely.
The kiosk experience is continuously improved based on applicant feedback, which is logged as an issue in Jira. We prioritise these issues to iterate on the design, code it, and push it live.
