I break down complexity so users understand how to get the most out of Donorbox's products.

While I have never been the type to take apart a remote control just for the joy of putting it back together, I imagine that technical writing satisfies the same itch. I love seeing how Donorbox's software works and finding the best way to explain that to my audience.
I write how-to product blogs and user documentation for a variety of Donorbox products. My goal is to both illustrate the value of the product as a product marketer, but also to show users exactly how to use each tool to its full advantage.

My process

Working with Donorbox's product managers and the Director of Product Marketing, I start by reviewing all documentation and accessing the product myself. I seek to understand how the product works – and what obstacles users may have when approaching it for the first time.
I start by describing how the product works (aka, how it makes the user's life easier), and then go into detail about the step-by-step process. I also take visually appealing and informative screenshots as I go to fully illustrate each step. My goal with technical writing for users is for them to feel like experts without having to study too much, so I try to keep each step short and sweet.
Once I have a draft, I seek out feedback so I can make this particular piece of copy shine. I love getting feedback from product managers and other stakeholders so I can better understand how the product works and make appropriate changes.
