What is Calligraffiti?

I am thrilled to share my work for A-Level Art, in which I received an A*. My project was mainly focused on Arabic Calligraffiti, a combination of beautiful calligraphy and vibrant graffiti art.
During my academic years, the Arab culture surrounded me and inspired my creative side, I learnt the Arabic Language whilst I lived in the Middle East so the combination of culture and art was something I truly enjoyed.

Materials used:

All of my pieces are created with a range of different media and materials to create a chaotic feel.
I experimented a lot with inks, spray paints, acrylic paints and a range of different paint pens. Most of my work was created on vinyl records and others were created on thick cardboard. All my pieces were double sided so when they hung down, my work could be seen at any angle, especially when they slightly moved from the air conditioning.
I worked with the Silhouette Cameo machine for most of my project to cut out Arabic Calligraphy which I then used as a stencil to spray paint my work. I also used photographs of my work and placed them through Photoshop and Silhouette Cameo to create patterned stencils which were hung up in my exhibition. These small patterned stencils were also placed in some plastic clear Christmas ornaments and were also hung up in my exhibition.

Exhibition:

I created the exhibition to look like a celebration with a range of colours used in my work as well as the use of LED Fairy Lights. I incorporated the stencils that were in the Christmas ornaments into my exhibition as well as the stencils on their own hanging as well.
