The Client

The Jiunvfeng Study is a public cultural building on the rocky and exposed mountains in northern China, which is used for reading, rest and exhibitions. It is located in Daiyue District, Tai’an City, adjacent to the Shenlong Grand Canyon, with Mount Tai.
The structure stands out and hovers like a cloud in the mountains. This makes it blend effortlessly with the surrounding nature.

The Goal

While reading about the process employed in the design and construction of this magnificent structure, I was awestruck by the experiences it can stimulate for visitors.
I was inclined to portray these experiences through a landing page.

The Process

A mixture of surrealism, dreamy and tranquility were the feelings I experienced when I first came across images of the structure. I decided to give priority to the demonstration of these feelings through the following design choices:
Utilization of background blur effects to evoke a dreamy feeling
Minimal copy in order to focus users' attention to the magnificence of the structure and the tranquil surroundings
Designing an undulating slope as the logo to reference the mountains.
Utilization of a green color palette for the interface of the landing page to blend seamlessly with the green mountains

The Result

The landing page for Jiunvfeng Study is a conjectural web design project that depicts the tranquil experience promised at the location.

The hero image allows room for the texts utilized in the section without interfering with the dreamy sensation of the structure hovering like a cloud in the mountains.

Minimal copy was used through out the landing page. The goal was to design a clean web layout that co-exists with surrounding green mountains, thereby bringing the structure to the focal point.
