Creating a resume/CV has been one of my most challenging tasks since I passed college. Still, I found it difficult to build so I and my team came up with a simple solution.
CV Builder app helps employees and students to create their resumes/CVs with a simple mobile app. We are focused on easy-to-use functionalities. We made it different from other CV Builder apps also we tried to make it easy and safe for all kinds of users. To create a resume/CV, a desktop computer is a must.

Problem

It’s almost impossible to create a resume on the go. So, We have taken this initiative to provide an employee and students with an easy process to create a resume on their mobile phones.

Solution

Our CV app is the perfect platform that guides you to form a quality CV and allows you to create your CV in an easy and excellent way to get you a better job. Our app will take you on a step-by-step guide to the way of making a well-balanced CV. We tried our best to keep the app as simple as possible.

Goal

The goal of this project was to create an easy way for users to build their CVs on mobile devices. Allowing a user to create a CV based on the profession. Allowing users to organize the content of their CV easily on mobile to apply for a job.

Design Process

Competitive analysis

Competitive analysis plays an important role in any Product Design. It helps us to focus on how the competitors serve our target audience with their products or services. The process of Competitive analysis is very deep So we took a few parts from the process. After starting our main process we did some competitive analysis for understanding user needs. We’ve Started the competitive analysis and identified the top three competitors. Analyzing and comparing the content, features, and functionalities of their apps to determine the direction of development for the Ezy CV Builder App. We found many issues in the existing apps that are not really useful in some cases and also not perfect for making a complete resume/CV on the go. Even, We tried to create a resume/CV but got confused at some point and couldn’t even complete making a full resume/CV on a mobile phone.

Identifying pain points

After completing the Competitive analysis we called a few people from different professions and asked them to write the pain they face while creating a resume/CV on a mobile app. We go through a few common and unique issues from different people.
In Canva we can’t crop any images or designs in a free version, Limited stock images, Sometimes the functionality is slow and awkward.
In the Resume App, some builders might have limited customization features. We can’t choose our own fonts.
In VisualCV There’s no spell checker.

User Persona

From our research, we created the persona of James George and his current experience with other competitor apps. This helped me to identify some key goals and frustrations of this persona.

Information Architecture

We created an IA of this App to gain more of a technical understanding of how the system worked, this user flow highlighted a problem that we had already identified, the amount of backtracking the user had to do. When we looked at this user flow we believed that we would be able to make some positive changes.

Wireframes

Wireframes are created to understand the basic structure of an app before UI Design. In this ideation phase, We created basic wireframes to represent the content, information and basic layouts.
Lo-Fi Wire-frame: After reviewing the issues surrounding the shopping cart edit flow, I mapped potential solutions to each of the pain points and created rough UI sketches to encapsulate the solutions.
Hi-Fi Wireframe: Before diving directly into prototyping my design, We performed preliminary validation by walking through the Lo-Fi UI sketches with a few more online shoppers. We received some good insights and incorporated them into the final design.
Please see our proposed solutions below:

UI Design

These screens are a concept/mockup of what the outcome of this research and design could look like. We tried to use elements similar to popular tech-focused applications such as Messenger to help create a visual design language for the brand that was more modern than the original. The current visual design is very minimal and it’s something We would try to improve on if we spend more time on this project.

User Testing

We conducted a walk-through with potential users asking them what they would do at each screen in order to create a resume/CV. One of the things that could be improved in the next iteration that I picked up on was that users weren’t immediately aware that they could add a custom section on the editor screen.

Prototype

We built a prototype that shows the entire project, showing each one of the mockups faced before. Enjoy!

Conclusion

Due to time constraints, the research and consequent assumptions are based on my personal experience and a small amount of data.
Deep analysis and additional testing need to be conducted in order to refine and validate the solution.
