Inventasy Branding Design Project

Overview:

The client, Land of Lost Games, is working on creating an educational platform for children. Their goal is to get students interested and educated in STEAM. This Inventasy platform would allow students to learn through games, teachers to track through a teacher portal, and parents to oversee their childs progress. Land of Lost Games commissioned me to create a brand identity for their platform.

Research and Strategy:

Before starting any project, it is crucial to understand the industry I am designing for. I began the project by doing competitor and market research. These competitors were found by searching for top educational platforms, analyzing their brands and websites, and using that data to find strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
Apart from research, I also led a brand identity exercise with my clients. I met with the stakeholders and utilized FigJam to lead it. The exercise involved three main parts to understand their brand identity:
Questions to get clients comfortable and thinking of their brand personally.
Adjective Activity
Value Exercise

Moodboards

After meeting with the client to ask them about their dream brand and analyzing their competitors, I created two moodboards to start setting a direction in motion.

The client liked Moodboard 1 colors and scalable feeling. They also really liked Moodboard 2-themed fonts which resonated with the space theme. Space was particularly special because it reminded them that space has been the epitome of science.

Logo Creation

After defining a direction, I began sketching logos possible logos.
Creating these sketches meant I could talk to my client again to get their feedback. They were interested in seeing number 2,5, and 6. I noticed they had some interest in number 4 so I also decided to incorporate the font style into digitized versions.
I presented all of these options to LOLG and they were interested in the last version. I wanted to combine their passion for space and a bold font to characterize Inventasy.

Brand Guidelines

As part of all my brand packages, I create a brand guideline book that specifies the brand voice and tone, font choices, logo usage, and more.

Social Media

Part of making a brand includes details on how to use it in social media platforms. I also included in the guidelines ways to use their colors and logos in their socials.

Key Takeaways

Creating a brand is extremely rewarding and I keep looking forward to the next brand to be designed. I value feedback because it helps communication stay strong between my client and me. It also allows us to express how we think the design direction is going.
