The Client and Project
I've taken on the exciting challenge of creating a dating website design exclusively for Christians. It is a special online platform for Christian singles to meet and date. It's different from other dating sites because we focus on people who are very committed to their faith.
Problem Statement
Christians face challenges on mainstream dating platforms, struggling to find like-minded individuals who share their faith. They encounter potential mismatches in religious beliefs and feel lack of platforms specifically designed to cater to Christian values and preferences.

The Process
I was the sole designer working on this project, and there were limited time and resources available for conducting qualitative research and analysis. Nevertheless, I did my utmost to conduct a brief competitive analysis, test several dating websites as a user and apply my observations to the project.
User Research: While figuring out how to design our Christian dating website, I checked online forums and reviews from people using other dating sites. I also brainstormed ideas with ChatGPT.
What I found is that users really care about finding matches who share their Christian values, and they want things to feel real and safe. Balancing privacy with making meaningful connections is also a big deal. So, my design tries to do all that, creating a place that feels both traditional and modern for a good user experience.
Real reviews about popular dating websites for Christians gave a lot of insights for this project:
Competitor Analysis: To start, I conducted an analysis of most popular dating websites to understand what works well. I've put the screenshots of the key pages from several dating websites in Figma and discussed them with the team to take the best practice from it.
Also I’ve registered to a few dating websites to test how it works and what difficulties can appear in the process.
Top Dating Websites I used in my analysis
User Flow: I carefully mapped out the steps users would take when navigating the website, ensuring a logical and intuitive journey.
Low and High Fidelity Prototypes: I created low-fidelity prototypes to align with the team and the client on the functionality of the website on a team call. And then I’ve done detailed and visually rich prototypes that showcased the website's design, layout, and user interface.
Welcome Dashboard Prototype
Clickable Prototype: I developed a clickable prototype, allowing for hands-on testing of the design and user experience. It helped the client to understand how things are going to work since they had doubts how to get their ideas into the working website. We also were testing and discussing it on a team call.

Welcome Dashboard
We wanted a user start checking matches and communicating with people right after they enter the profile. That's why I added New Matches and Recent Visitors tabs along with activity notifications (icons for messages, likes, favorites etc) on this page.
We also added Best Match card to the right side of the page with 3 action options (decline, like and message) to encourage the user to take action.

User Profile View for Free Member
This is what any user's profile looks like for a free member (without a subscription plan). You will see a blurred photo and the button “View Photos?” with an offer to subscribe. There is also the information about this person, interests and compatibility score. To start chatting or, for example, add to favourites, the user clicks icons under the profile cover.

Search and filters on this dating website are essential tools to help users find their ideal match.
Account Verification
SMS verification for a dating website is necessary for user safety and security. It ensures that individuals signing up are using valid phone numbers, reducing the risk of fake profiles and enhancing trust within the platform.
