Tax Prep & Bookkeeping Support – Tax & Financial Firm I was full-time at this tax firm, handling everything from bookkeeping and financial reporting to client calls, office ops, and tech troubleshooting. I: • Maintained QuickBooks records and managed AP/AR • Prepared monthly reports and supported tax prep for clients • Handled incoming docs, organized data, and tracked filings • Ran front office duties, client communications, and scheduling • Built out filing systems that actually made sense for the team • Stepped in for IT support when systems broke during tax season It wasn’t glamorous—but I kept it all running. Being a Swiss Army knife taught me how to juggle pressure, solve problems fast, and never let the books fall behind.

Bookkeeping & Tax Support for 90+ Clients – CPA Firm I manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of over 90 active clients—primarily in dentistry, law firms, PR, retail, and others. My work includes: • Cleaning up QuickBooks registers and building smart rules to automate categorization • Reconciling multiple accounts monthly, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial records • Preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements to support decision-making and tax planning • Collaborating with the CPA team on tax compliance, filings, and audit readiness • Helping small business owners understand their numbers and improve how they manage their cash flow Whether it’s a dental office, a solo law practice, or a retail store—I bring structure, clarity, and efficiency to the table so clients can focus on running their business.

Helping a Design Firm Build Financial Structure That Actually Works When I started working with this Design Firm in City of Industry, CA, their books were scattered across platforms—some in QuickBooks, some in Studio Designer, and some... in inboxes. We built a cleaner system from the ground up: Cleaned up reconciliations Built consistent AP/AR processes Used Smartsheet to track jobs & cash flow Generated reports that the owner could actually use I’m not a Studio Designer pro, but I learned enough to keep it all moving. The goal wasn’t perfection—it was peace of mind.

Led Accounting Ops for High-Volume Auto Dealership – 2,000+ Transactions/Month I ran the accounting function for a wholesale auto dealership, handling over 2,000 transactions per month across sales, inventory, and vendor accounts. I built the workflow from scratch, cleaned up Dealertrack data, helped sync up other departments so financials could be tracked, supported team members who needed help learning proper entries, and worked beyond my title—doing controller-level work without the controller-level pay. In the end, I advised leadership on financial red flags and recommended winding down operations. They chose not to—and filed bankruptcy shortly after. Not every job ends in a portfolio-perfect story. But this one taught me how to lead, stay honest, and stand firm on the numbers—even when no one wants to hear them.

Project Overview: In this project, I managed the end-to-end financial bookkeeping and property-wise reporting for a multi-unit residential rental business based in the UK. The primary goal was to provide the client with clean, organized, and audit-ready monthly financial insights. Key Responsibilities & Tasks Performed: Class & Property Tracking: Segmented and tracked unique income streams and expenses across individual properties (e.g., 201 Main St, 202 Main St) to evaluate the profitability of each asset. Direct Cost Allocation: Accurately recorded and categorized direct property costs, including property taxes, utilities, cleaning services, insurance, and maintenance fees. Overhead Management: Tracked operational expenses such as advertising and office expenses to accurately determine gross profits and net earnings. Financial Reporting: Utilized QuickBooks Online to generate customized Monthly Profit and Loss (P&L) statements, helping the client monitor cash flow and make data-driven investment decisions.

Most contractors watch revenue. The smart ones watch cost percentage and profit margin on every job. Here is a simple example: Contract amount: $100,000 Total job cost (labor, materials, subs, equipment, site costs): $85,000 Profit: $15,000 That means: Cost percentage = $85,000 ÷ $100,000 = 85% Profit margin = $15,000 ÷ $100,000 = 15% On paper, 15% looks okay. But in construction, small mistakes can easily eat that margin: Extra labor hours not booked to the job Material wastage and rework Subcontractor change orders not billed correctly Site overheads missing in the budget If margin drops from 15% to 5%, profit becomes only $5,000 on a $100,000 job. Same revenue. Very different result. That’s why clean job costing and regular review of cost percentage and profit margin are more important than just looking at total sales.

I’m Murugeshwari (you can call me MS), a Financial Strategist specializing in US construction contractors, MEP service businesses, and Real Estate. With 5+ years of hands-on experience in books and financial operations, I help owners turn messy books into clear, reliable financials they can trust. My work focuses on construction contractors in Texas and Florida, especially HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general contracting businesses, along with real estate investors doing BRRRR and fix-and-flip projects. Through my firm, Murugeshwari Books, I support clients with job costing, WIP reporting, month end close, cleanup and catch up work, progress billing, subcontractor 1099 management, and CPA support financials. My goal is simple: help business owners understand where every dollar goes, improve project profitability, and eliminate financial guesswork. I have worked across construction, retail, hospitality, and service industries, and I’ve handled multiple client accounts in real world books environments. I also bring direct experience from construction and related business operations, which helps me understand the pressure owners face when books are behind, job costs are unclear, or cash flow feels tight. What makes my approach different is that I don’t just record numbers I translate them into practical insights. I speak the language of contractors, project teams, and CPAs, and I use tools like QuickBooks Online, Xero, Knowify, Procore, and Jobber to keep the accounting process smooth and organized. I’m especially focused on helping clients who are: profitable on paper but struggling with cash in the bank tired of messy books and unclear job costing preparing for tax season, lending, bonding, or growth looking for a Remote financial books clear partner who understands construction and real estate I believe clean books create calm decisions. When financials are organized, business owners can bid better, manage labor more accurately, and see which jobs actually make money. If you need a person who turns your messy books into profit margin converted who combines construction knowledge, financial clarity, and remote reliability, I’d be glad to connect. Let’s Talk If you’re a Construction contractor & MEP or real estate investor who wants cleaner books, clearer job profitability. I’m based in India and support US contractors remotely, aligning to US time zones so your books stay current while you’re on-site.

Recently completed a VAT and Corporate Tax review for a UAE entity operating across multiple revenue streams. I evaluated VAT classifications (taxable, exempt, zero-rated), validated documentation, checked input-output reconciliation, and reviewed cross-border transactions. On the Corporate Tax side, I assessed Small Business Relief eligibility, reviewed related party arrangements, analysed deductible vs non-deductible expenses, and prepared a preliminary CT impact summary. Early compliance checkups help businesses avoid future penalties and optimize tax positions from day one.

Just wrapped up a full set of IFRS for SMEs financial statements for a client. This included preparing the primary statements, drafting detailed notes, assessing accounting estimates, updating depreciation and amortization schedules, and performing closing adjustments. I also ensured appropriate disclosures for revenue recognition, leases, related parties, contingencies, and subsequent events, along with a complete workpaper pack for audit support. Financial statements done right bring clarity and confidence to owners, investors, and auditors.

I recently set up a complete monthly accounting and reporting workflow for a growing business. The work included designing a clear chart of accounts, recording and classifying transactions, building reconciliation templates, and preparing monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports. I also incorporated MIS dashboards highlighting margins, spending patterns, receivables ageing, and key trends to support better operational decisions. Everything is now fully audit-ready and standardized for future scalability. Love helping businesses bring structure and discipline to their finance function.

I have been working on a discounted cash flow (DCF) valuation for a client planning to raise investment. The model includes detailed revenue assumptions, cost drivers, operating margins, working capital cycles, capital expenditure forecasts, and weighted average cost of capital (WACC) calculations. The final output clearly presents intrinsic value, sensitivity analysis, and scenario outcomes to help the client understand valuation ranges under different business conditions. Valuation assignments are always exciting, combining analytical work with strategic insights.
