Building a Self-Hosted Email Marketing Infrastructure with MailWizz & Postal Overview Quad Nathan needed a reliable, self-hosted email marketing system that would give them full control over their email campaigns, mailing lists, and sending infrastructure while reducing dependence on third-party email platforms. About the Client Quad Nathan is a business seeking a scalable and cost-effective email marketing solution capable of managing campaigns, subscriber lists, and high-volume email delivery through its own infrastructure. Goal The objective was to deploy a secure and fully functional email marketing ecosystem using MailWizz and Postal, ensuring the platform was properly configured for campaign management, email authentication, and dependable email delivery. Challenges The project involved configuring multiple server components, integrating MailWizz with Postal, securing the server with SSL, and implementing proper DNS authentication (SPF, DKIM, and DMARC). Careful tuning was also required to ensure stability, performance, and reliable email delivery. Solution & Outcome A complete email infrastructure was successfully deployed on a Linux VPS. Postal was configured as the SMTP server, while MailWizz was installed and connected for campaign management. SSL certificates were implemented to secure the platform, DNS authentication records were configured, and the entire environment was tested to confirm successful email transmission. The client received a production-ready system capable of managing email campaigns independently. Knowledge Gained This project strengthened my expertise in Linux server administration, MailWizz deployment, Postal configuration, Docker-based services, DNS management, email authentication protocols, and end-to-end email infrastructure deployment. Business Impact With a self-hosted email marketing platform, Quad Nathan gained greater control over email operations, reduced recurring software costs, improved scalability, and established a foundation for reliable and secure email marketing as the business grows.
