The Design Oracle is Live โจ | Squarespace Make It Real Challenge Ever wondered if that "final_FINAL_v4" file is actually the last one? Or if the client will ask to make the logo just a little bit bigger? Let the cards decide. ๐ฎ Iโm thrilled to unveil The Design Oracle (or Design Arcana)โan interactive, mystical tarot experience created specifically for freelancers and designers to reveal the fate of their current projects. This is my official submission for the Squarespace Make It Real Challenge. My goal was to completely break away from standard grid layouts and see how far I could push the creative boundaries using the new Finish Layer tools. Here is how the magic works behind the scenes (without a single line of custom code): Z-Axis & Overlapping: Used Fluid Engine to scatter the cards and floating stickers across the canvas, creating depth and a true "spread" feel. Hover Reveals: Leveraged native image swap effects so users can organically "draw" a card just by exploring the screen. Mobile Overrides: Rebuilt the entire chaotic desktop spread into a sleek, functional vertical stack for perfect mobile UX. After over a decade in UI/UX and brand design, I still believe the best projects start with pure creativity before locking into rigid systems. This was incredibly fun to build. Will you pull "The Golden Client" or "The Wheel of Feedback"? Take a deep breath, align your pixels, and draw your card here: https://round-herring-m73p.squarespace. Password: contrathebest I'd love to hear which destiny you got in the comments! ๐

Vestris โ from ratified contract to closing-ready, on autopilot Just wrapped one-week sprint designing the landing page for Vestris, a YC S26 startup automating mortgage title & closing work. Sharing the process because a few things about it were genuinely different from a typical SaaS landing page project. The brief Vestris automates the unglamorous middle of a real estate closing โ chasing documents, prorating taxes, drafting closing disclosures, coordinating between lender/agents/title company. The founder wanted the site to feel "homey," not like enterprise software โ because the buyers here are mom-and-pop title companies, not enterprise IT departments. Process 2 hero concepts tested in parallel (a quieter parenthetical headline vs. a bold full-width one), each with copy variants, sent as a single comparison sheet rather than one "final" direction โ let the founder react to real trade-offs instead of guessing what I meant. Redesigned the site's core interactive block โ an 11-step "how it works" breakdown โ three separate times based on live feedback: first a desktop accordion, then a mobile-specific pass (accordions don't compress well under ~380px), then a full restructure into a 2ร2 grid after the client flagged the original zig-zag layout for being "repetitive and too long to scroll." The illustrated hero background (watercolor countryside, cottage) needed to dissolve into the brand's cream background at the edges โ but a standard blur/gradient looked flat next to the painterly art style. Built a small custom tool (canvas + JS) that applies ordered Bayer dithering to fade the illustration into the background color pixel-by-pixel instead of blending โ it reads as grain, not gradient, and matches the hand-painted texture instead of fighting it. Turned it into a reusable tool with adjustable fade area, blur radius, dot size, and a transparent-overlay export, so it's not a one-off script. Figma for design, Framer for the build, custom canvas/JS tooling for the image-edge treatment, Midjourney for the base illustrations. vestris.ai (http://vestris.ai) โ live now.

NOMA Studio is a Squarespace website created for hospitality marketing agencies, boutique hotels, luxury resorts, and destination brands. The goal was to design a website that feels editorial, cinematic, and commercially viable. Something that could realistically be used by a creative agency while showcasing what's possible with Squarespace. The design focuses on immersive imagery, refined typography, generous whitespace, and a strong visual hierarchy to create an experience that reflects the hospitality industry. To bring the design to life, I used Finish Layer throughout the site, including layered hero compositions, subtle scroll animations, hover interactions on buttons and key interface elements, and carefully positioned visual components that add depth without overwhelming the content. I also uploaded and used the Satoshi typeface for body copy to complement the high-contrast serif headings and create a modern editorial balance. The entire website has been designed with responsiveness in mind, ensuring layouts, typography, spacing, and interactions adapt smoothly across desktop, and mobile devices. This project demonstrates how Squarespace can be used not only to create visually compelling websites, but also production-ready templates suitable for real businesses. For Envato Challenge, I created a fictional launch commercial for a premium electric vehicle brand called Volta EV7. Rather than focusing only on AI-generated output, I wanted to show how creative judgment shapes the final result. Every stage of the project involved iteration, selection, and refinement. From naming the brand and designing the logo to generating visuals, creating cinematic video sequences, crafting the voiceover, generating music and sound effects, and finally editing everything into a cohesive story. Envato served as the primary creative toolkit throughout the project. I used its AI-powered tools to generate visual concepts, voiceover, music, and sound effects, while continuously refining the outputs until they matched the premium, cinematic direction I envisioned. To document that process, I also created a walkthrough showing how the project evolved from an initial idea into the finished film. https://x.com/piotr_ams/status/2081527934884405518 @Envato
