NILE 2126 – Ancient Egypt Reimagined
I created a visual series imagining future technology through the beauty of ancient Egyptian ornamental art.
The custom Recraft V4 style is based on two historical Egyptian ornament plates from Owen Jones's The Grammar of Ornament (1856), sourced from the Smithsonian Libraries.
Using lotus and papyrus motifs, geometric patterns, and traditional Egyptian colors, I transformed modern technology into vintage-inspired illustrations.
The series explores three modern concepts: smartphones, delivery drones, and smartwatches, combining ancient artistic heritage with futuristic design.

For this project, I dove deep into the Public Domain Image Archive and gathered vintage 18th and 19th-century illustrations from various talented artists of that era — think old-school book engravings, scientific botanical plates, and classical etchings.

I wanted to give these historical artworks a fresh, weird, and fun twist by mixing them with modern surrealism, bold colors, and psychedelic vibes. With Recraft, I blended classic cross-hatching textures and aged paper looks with funky symbols, neon contrasts, and dreamlike patterns.

LOVED THIS ONE! While exploring the Rijksmuseum's public domain collection, I fell for Ohara Koson's quiet woodblock prints of small birds and flowers on soft, misty skies.
I trained a custom Recraft Style on ten of his prints from 1900–1930, cropping away signatures and margins so only his gentle colors, delicate lines and generous empty space remained.
Then I asked: what if his birds moved to the city? I used the Style to design for everyday 2026 life, from a tram wrap and a full-sleeve tattoo to café umbrellas, a building mural and a pedestrian crossing painted as a lily pond.
A century later, Koson's birds are still finding new places to land.

I fell for Japan as a teenager, visited many times, then lived there for seven years, long enough to know the konbini (convenience store) is a cultural institution: open 24/7, constantly rotating seasonal products, and locked in a friendly rivalry over the best coffee and sweets.
My other obsession is Taisho and early Showa graphic design, and while searching for inspiration, I found the work of Sugiura Hisui, whose lithograph posters announced Mitsukoshi’s new spring collections a century ago. So I thought: how would Hisui create ads for today's convenience stores?
I turned his posters into a Recraft V4 Style and launched the Spring 2027 range of Hinata Mart, a fictional convenience store. The series pairs today’s bestsellers (fruit sandwiches, fried chicken, iced drinks, oden) with modern fixtures like the ATM and the self-serve coffee machine.
