Claude Design dropped and everyone's talking about it like designers just got replaced.
I've been using Claude in my workflow for a while. Here's my actual take: it's a thinking tool, not a building tool.
It can help you articulate a direction. It cannot make the judgment call that a client's "modern and clean" actually means "they saw an Apple page once and want that."
That gap between a prompt and a real design decision is still entirely human. The stores I build start with a brief, a Figma file, and a conversation. Claude might help me draft a question or summarise a vague idea. It doesn't touch the Liquid.
The hype always peaks before people actually use the thing. Then it settles into being a useful layer. That's where we are.

The "saw an Apple page once and want that" line is so accurate it hurts. Client translation is still the hardest part of the job and no AI is touching that anytime soon.

Exactly. The brief says 'clean and modern' but the inspiration board is three different styles from three different decades. Translating that into something that actually converts is the whole job.
